Description
The 100/D5 antibody exhibits great specificity for the Bcl-2 antibody (alpha) and demonstrates no cross-reactivity with Bcl-x or Bax proteins. Bcl-2 (B-cell lymphoma 2) is a proto-oncogene situated at 18q21.3. The expression of the Bcl-2 alpha oncoprotein has been demonstrated to impede apoptosis. In the majority of follicular lymphomas, neoplastic germinal enters exhibit elevated levels of Bcl-2 protein, while normal or hyperplastic germinal centers are negative for this protein. Numerous B- and T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders, along with certain diffuse large B-cell lymphomas, exhibit Bcl-2 positivity, but Burkitt’s lymphoma/leukemia is typically negative.
