Description

The hSWI/SNF (SWItch/Sucrose NonFermentable) chromatin remodeling complex, which supports DNA-dependent cellular functions like transcription, replication, and repair, depends critically on integrase interactor 1 (INI-1), also referred to as hSNF5. Malignant rhabdoid tumors (MRTs), which can be imitated by medulloblastoma and supratentorial primitive neuroectodermal tumors (sPNETs), frequently include mutations or deletions in the INI-1 gene. Differential diagnosis can be difficult because to MRT appearance, however INI-1 has shown helpful in differentiating between the three diseases because most medulloblastomas and sPN.
